Gold chain of former Delhi Chief Secy's wife snatched

Wife of former Delhi Chief Secretary and senior IAS officer D M Spolia became victim of chain snatching when two bike-borne men attacked her while she was returning from morning walk near the state Assembly here, police said today.

The incident took place on July 4 around 7.45 AM when S R Spolia (55) was walking on the street. The two accused snatched her gold chain and sped away.

"The incident took place last week. An FIR in this regard has been registered at Civil Lines Police Station. Nobody has been arrested so far and investigations are on," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Madhur Verma.
 

In her complaint, she could neither recall the colour of the bike nor its number but said the pillion rider was of big built, police said.

"I could not see the colour or the make of the motorcycle nor could I see the number as I was not wearing my spectacles and it happened very suddenly," she said in her complaint.

A case under relevant sections has been registered an investigations are on, police said.
