The Additional District Medical Officer (ADMO) of Subarnapur Dubadala Mishra was killed by unidentified assailants at Sonepur, police said today.
Mishra, a senior pediatrician, was returning home from hospital when the assailants waylaid him near his residence and slit his throat last night, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Bhabani Udgata said.
The ADMO was spotted lying in a pool of blood by local residents and taken to the hospital where doctors pronounced him dead, he said.
Some live cartridges were recovered from the spot.
