The government is contemplating to initiate a new methodology for data collection in future for meeting sustainable development goals, a senior official said Thursday.
There was a need for bringing in revolution in data collection with more algorithms, Statistics and Program Implementation Secretary Pravin Srivastava said.
"We need to meet the targets of sustainable development goals for which new methodology for data collection is needed," Srivastava said.
The government is looking at avenues such as artificial intelligence, big data and data analytics, Srivastava said at the convocation of the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) here.
"Data comes at a cost. It is used in policy making," he said.
Srivastava urged the graduating ISI students to go for researches in the regard.
