BJP Maharashtra president Raosaheb Danve said here today that the government is contemplating to hold simultaneous polls to local bodies - civic bodies and Zill Parishad (ZPs) and Bill to this effect will be brought in the Parliament after talks with other parties.
"A Bill to this effect will be brought in the Parliament with all-party consultation. We hope that the Opposition will give their consent to it," he told reporters during an informal talk with them here today.
"Apart from breaking the unending sequence of elections, the move will also expedite development works, which are held up due to election code of conduct. It will also give ample time to top politicians to concentrate on these works, as they are involved in campaigning time and again," he added.
