Govt official held for accepting bribe in Madhya Pradesh

A naib tehsildar was caught by the Lokayukta Police today for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a farmer for transferring land lease papers in his name.

Acting on a tip-off, Lokayukta Police laid a trap and nabbed the naib tehsildar -- Shambhu Singh Sisodia at his official residence when he was receiving money from the farmer, Balmukund, Lokayukta Inspector, Basant Shrivastava said.

He was arrested and was granted bail on the spot, the officer said.

A case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered in this regard and further investigations were on, Srivastava added.
