Govt's liquor policy will be catastrophe: Hotels

Association of Approved and Classified Hotels of Kerala today said the state government's liquor policy will be a "catastrophe" to the tourism industry and would adversely affect many other industries, including IT.

"The current liquor policy declared by the state will be a catastrophe to the Tourism Industry in Kerala and will adversely affect many other industries such as IT industry", the Association said in a statement here.

The association, at its meeting here, also decided to request the state government to implement justice Ramachandran Commission report in full.

The government in its affidavit filed before the Supreme Court and High Court had declared that it had appointed Justice Ramachandran as one man commission to look into all aspects of liquor policy and suggest necessary changes in the current policy and the government would abide by the report of the Commission, the association stated.
 

However, by declaring the Liquor policy, government had gone back on its word given to the apex court and high court, association president G Gopinathan, said.
