The Bombay High Court today refused to entertain a public interest litigation demanding a direction to the Centre, the Chief Election Commissioner and the Lok Sabha Speaker to seek declaration of assets from around 400 MPs including some Union Ministers.

Disposing of the PIL, the bench of Justices Shantanu Kemkar and M S Karnik asked the petitioner Hemant Patil to obtain the relevant information through the RTI, instead of relying on media reports.

Patil had contended that as per newspaper reports, some 400 MPs, some of them now ministers, did not file the mandatory asset declaration during the general elections in 2014.
