M Senthil, one of the accused in the case of suicide of a government engineer, was today granted bail by the Madras High court bench.

Justice K Kalyanasundram, while granting bail, directed him to sign at the office of the Deputy Superintendent, CB-CID, Chennai, till further orders.

The main accused, former Tamil Nadu Agriculture Minister S S Agri Krishnamurthy had already been granted conditional bail on June 3.

The bench accepted Senthil's plea to grant him conditional bail as Krishnamurthy had already got it.

Both Krishnamurthy and Senthil were arrested on April 4 in connection with the suicide of senior engineer in the agriculture department S Muthukumaraswamy in Tirunelveli on February 20 last.

Muthukumarasamy killed himself by jumping in front of a train, allegedly because he was under pressure to pay money for the seven drivers recruited by him as per rules.

The death of the official had snowballed into a major political row prompting AIADMK to drop Krishnamurthy from the state cabinet and strip him off his party posts before he was arrested.
