HC grants conditional bail to film director Seeman

The Madras High Court bench today granted conditional bail to film director and leader of a fringe political outfit, Seeman, and 38 others against whom police had filed cases listing charges under IPC, including sedition, for a speech he made here on May 24 this year.

Justice K Kalyanansundram asked all of them to sign in the register of the police station concerned on June 20, 21, 27 and 28.

Seeman, leader of Naam Thamizhar Iyakkam, and the others had been charged under Sections 124-A (attempting to bring into hatred or contempt or excite or attempting to excite disaffection towards the government established by law, 143 (unlawful assembly), 153-A (committing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony between different groups on grounds of religion, race and others) and 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of Indian Penal Code.
 

He was charged with supporting banned organisations.

The case had been filed on a complaint by a Sub-Inspector.
