The Allahabad High Court has sought a reply from the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) on a petition alleging that results of various examinations conducted by it were not being declared following an "oral" instruction from the state government.

A Division Bench comprising Justice Arun Tandon and Justice Prabhat Chandra Tripathi directed the UPPSC to file a "counter affidavit specifically stating the reasons as to why the Commission is not proceeding with selection/declaration of the result in the matter, provided the selections have already been completed".

The order dated May 26 was passed on the writ petition of one Ram Bachan Yadav and the next date of hearing in the matter is July 4.

Alleging that the Commission has been "orally asked by the state government" not to declare results of any of the examinations conducted by it, the petitioner has claimed "careers of lakhs of young people" was in limbo.
