A Division Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Amitava Lala and Justice P K S Baghel gave the direction while disposing of the PIL filed by Nityanand Chaubey, a resident of Varanasi.
The petitioner had requested the court to issue a direction that anybody renting out his or her property in Varanasi must obtain an identity proof of the prospective tenant.
