HC seeks response on PIL on renting accommodation in Varanasi

A Division Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Amitava Lala and Justice P K S Baghel gave the direction while disposing of the PIL filed by Nityanand Chaubey, a resident of Varanasi.

The petitioner had requested the court to issue a direction that anybody renting out his or her property in Varanasi must obtain an identity proof of the prospective tenant.

The petitioner had claimed that such a move became necessary in the wake of a number of terrorist strikes that have rocked the holy city in the past few years.
