Heat wave conditions continued to sweep swathes of Punjab and Haryana including Chandigarh with Hisar simmering at 43 degree Celsius.
Mercury at Amritsar in Punjab, which witnessed a drizzle, soared to 40.8 deg C, two notches above than normal, the MeT office here said.
Ludhiana and Patiala recorded above normal highs of 42.6 deg C and 42.7 deg C, respectively.

In Haryana, Hisar experienced a hot day at 43 deg C, two notches above normal while Karnal braved sweltering conditions at 42.6 deg C. Ambala, too, experienced a hot day at 41.4 deg C, up two notches.
Sultry weather prevailed in Chandigarh, where maximum temperature settled at 41.6 deg C, three notches above normal.
