The death toll due to searing heatwave sweeping Andhra Pradesh rose to 1,677 today with 41 more persons losing their lives in the last 24 hours, officials said.
"As per information available till 7 PM , the toll has reached to 1,677," an official of State Disaster Management Department told PTI here.
Yesterday, the toll stood at 1,636.

Prakasam district has recorded the maximum number of deaths at 333, followed by Guntur - 235 , East Godavari- 196, Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram - 188 each, Nellore - 165, Krishna - 79, Chittoor- 64 , Anantapur -63, Srikakulam - 61, Kadapa - 38 , Kurnool - 37 and West Godavari - 30.
The figures pertain to the period from May 18 till 7 PM today.
According to the MeT department, heat wave conditions prevailed over some parts in the districts of Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam today.
Rain occurred at isolated places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema.
The highest maximum temperature of 47 degrees Celsius was recorded at Jangamaheshwarapuram.
With regard to Telangana, the MeT department said heat wave conditions prevailed over many parts in the districts of Karimnagar, Warangal, Mahabubnagar, Khammam and Nalgonda today.
On Saturday, the highest maximum temperature of 47 degrees Celsius was recorded at Hanumkonda.
The MeT department has issued warning saying heat wave conditions would prevail tomorrow over many parts in the districts of Adilabad, Ranga Reddy, Warangal, Khammam, Mahabubnagar, Medak, Nalgonda, Nizamabad and Karimnagar of Telangana.
