Homage paid to Kargil martyrs

Military veterans of Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula today paid homage to martyrs on the 15th anniversary of the Kargil war.

The commemoration was held at Major Shankla War Memorial at Panchkula under the aegis of the Indian Ex-Servicemen Movement (IESM), said an official release.

Lt Gen (Retd) Amar Nath Aul, who commanded the 56 Brigade during the Kargil war, recounted his experiences and the heroism of the Indian jawans under the most adverse conditions, it said.

Ambala MP Ratan Lal Kataria; D K Bansal, MLA Panchkula; Upinder Kaur Ahluwalia, Mayor of Panchkula; Brig S C Rangi, Secretary, Rajya Sainik Board Haryana; and a large number of citizens participated in the event and offered floral tributes to the martyrs.
