House clears power, transport and food supplies demands

West Bengal Assembly today cleared the budgetary demands of Rs 11639 crore made by departments of food and supplies, power and transport.

State power minister Sobhandeb Chattaopadhyay placing the demand for Rs 2818 crore told the house that despite lowering of central assistance to 60 per cent from 90 per cent, the government reamined committed to electricity to all.

He informed the assembly that 99.08 per cent of rural electification work had been completed and the reamining would be over within this year against the target of 2018.

Rs 1341 crore was demanded by the state transport ministry and its minister Suvendu Adhikari said 10 new AC mini bus would roll out in the city. To start with two routes would be introduced to connect Joka in the south western suburbs and airport to central Kolkata.
 

The food and supplies ministry's demand for Rs 7534 crore was passed.

Food Minister Jyoti Priya Mullick assured the house to meet the target of paddy procurement of 52 lakh tonne by September and so far 12.88 lakh tonne have already been procured.

He said 1.31 crore ration cards had been cancelled and assured that issuing of new ration cards will continue.

He slammed the Centre for continious reduction in kerosene quota and expressed fear whether its distribution would continue in view of it.
