I chose my career over kids: Sarah Silverman

American comedienne Sarah Silverman has said she has made a decision to prioritise her career over having a family.

The 46-year-old American comedienne has taken to Twitter to honestly admit that she had to make a choice over whether she wanted to have children or be a successful stand-up and actress.

She tweeted: "As a comic always working & on the road I have had to decide between motherhood & living my fullest life & I chose the latter.

"... I love my comedian brothers that acknowledge this truth. They're my family & for a lot of us women comic sisters, our only family. (sic)"
 

Sarah was in an on/off relationship with talk show host Jimmy Kimmel from 2002 to 2009 and is currently dating British actor Michael Sheen.
