I-T dept raids jewellery shops in Jammu

The income tax department today raided seven jewellery shops in Jammu following complains of tax evasion.

I-T sleuths raided the shops as well as the residences of their proprietors, and conducted assessment of records, officials said.

Following the raid, Sarafa Association and Swarankar Sangh, the unions of jewellers in Jammu, called for a two-day strike in protest against the I-T department action.
