IED detected in Assam

A powerful improvised explosive

device (IED) was detected by security forces at Dhekiajuli in Sonitpur district of Assam today.

The IED, weighing about five kg, was planted under a culvert, Superintendent of Police Sanjukta Parasar said.

It was safely defused by the Army, Parasar said.

Investigations were on to find out those responsible for planting the explosive, she said.
