A 32-year-old man who allegedly

posed as a commercial tax officer and cheated an individual of Rs 40,000 was arrested by the city police here today.

Acting on a complaint from the victim Jayakumar, a special police team formed to nab the culprit arrested the man identified as Vedharasu, a police release said.

Investigations revealed that the accused had allegedly cheated Jayakumar saying he was a working as a commercial tax officer at the Income Tax office. He offered to give electronic goods to Jayakumar at cheap rates if he paid Rs 40,000.
