Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra today condoled the death of 1971 war hero Air Commodore (retd) Jasjit Singh.

Recalling his over three decades long association with Singh, who served as Director Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA) for over 10 years, Vohra said his contribution to the important think tank would be remembered in days to come.

Singh, who was serving as Director of Centre for Air Power Studies for the past nearly a decade, died here yesterday after a brief illness.

The Governor said that Singh would be remembered for establishing IDSA as a notable institution and for his deep insight into strategic affairs, reflected in over two dozen books authored by him.

Born July 8, 1934, Singh was awarded the Vir Chakra for his gallantry in the Indo-Pak war of 1971.
