A 50-year-old labourer was killed and another critically injured today when an under construction protection-wall collapsed in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district, an official said.

The wall was being built at Pahalgwara by the Jammu and Kashmir Roads and Buildings Department, a police officer said.

It collapsed when a group of labourers were working. Two workers -- Abdul Aziz and Roshan Lal -- got trapped under the debris, he said, adding they were residents of Chingam village.

Aziz died on the spot and Lal was rescued and admitted to a hospital, where his condition was stated to be "critical", the officer said.

The police have registered a case and started investigating the matter, he said.
