J-K ration dealers involved in black marketing to lose licence

Jammu and Kashmir minister Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali today directed officials to cancel licences of ration dealers indulging in black marketing.

The Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) directed this while chairing a review meeting with the officers of the department here.

Stressing on streamlining the department, Ali said record of every single beneficiary should be maintained properly and there must be total transparency and accountability.

He exhorted the officers to "make changes at the ground level" as the government "will not tolerate any laxity on part of officersregarding consumers' convenience" and said officials ensuring prompt services will be encouraged while the non-performers will be shown the door.
 

The minister directed the officers to constitute a committee headed by the Director CAPD, Jammu to work out an effective strategy for distribution of food grains and kerosene to the beneficiaries.

Two food testing laboratories would be set up, one in Jammu and another in Kashmir division, to examine the quality of the ration being distributed, he said.
