Jammu and Kashmir State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) today recommended a compensation of Rs five lakh to a daily wager of the Power Development Department (PDD) who lost his left arm in an accident during duty five years ago.

The SHRC also asked PDD to regularise services of the victim, Muneer Hussain, a resident of Noona Mandi area of Poonch district, a spokesman of the Commission said.

According to the spokesman, SHRC member Jung Bahadur Singh Jamwal passed the orders yesterday while hearing the case of Hussain, who lost his left arm while repairing a fault in a transmission line in Poonch on March 26, 2012.

Hussain's left arm was amputated by doctors at the Government Medical College here after he was shifted from Poonch for specialised treatment following the accident.
