J-K:Team of doctors to monitor transportation of poultry birds

Amid the bird flu scare, authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have been directed to depute a team of doctors to Lakhanpur entry check post near Punjab border to monitor the transportation of poultry birds into the state.

Minister for Animal and Sheep Husbandry Abdul Gani Kohli passed the directive to the concerned authorities to depute a team of doctors to Lakhnapur entry check post to avoid entry of any infected bird in the State, an official spokesman said.

He said the team would ensure regular checking of stock of poultry birds coming from other states to prevent bird flu spread in the state.
