The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and various other national agencies were involved in the investigation of the blast in Bajrapara locality, the SP said.
Asked whether the Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) was responsible for the explosion, Javalgi told a press conference that it was not possible at the moment to name any organisation as behind the blast.
"What we can say at the best that KLO observed the day of the explosion (December 26) as its martyrs day and December 28 was its foundation day," the SP said.
Formed in 1993, the KLO was fighting for a separate Kamtapuri state comprising six districts of north Bengal and some areas of Lower Assam.
The SP said the probe in the blast was progressing on the right track.
Several tests were being conducted by the Kolkata-based Central Forensic Science Laboratory, the reports of which would be useful in the investigation.
Paramilitary forces were patrolling various areas of Jalpaiguri town and prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CRPC were clamped in two stretches which included the spot where the blast occurred.
