Private carrier Jet Airways today said it has decided to deploy a Boeing 777 on Mumbai-Amsterdam route from October to meet the growing passenger demand.

At present, the airline operates a smaller Airbus A330-200 aircraft with 34 seats in Premiere (business) and 259 seats in Economy class.

The Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft, which will be deployed on this sector, will have three-class configuration with 8 first class suites, 30 premiere flat beds and 308 economy seats.

Jet Airways is the only airline that flies daily non-stop between Mumbai and Amsterdam, which is also the new hub for its operations to Europe and beyond.

"Our daily non-stop service connecting India's commercial capital Mumbai and the key European hub Amsterdam has received excellent response since its launch. By deploying the 777-300ER aircraft, Jet Airways will be able to cater to the growing demand on this important sector," Jet Airways Whole- time Director Gaurang Shetty said.

Jet had launched the daily flight service from Mumbai to Amsterdam in March.

The capacity increase is in response to growing demand, particularly from business and corporate travellers, the airline said.

From Amsterdam, the airline offers connectivity to 30 destinations across Europe and 11 destinations in the United States and Canada through its codeshare partnership with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Delta Air Lines.

Jet Airways operates to 68 destinations, including India and across the world with a fleet of 116 aircraft.
"We aim to provide digital connectivity, subject to

regulatory approvals, on board and the introduction of wireless streaming is the first step in that direction," he said.

Jet Airways whole-time Director Gaurang Shetty said, "Streaming of content on personal devices has become extremely popular globally, and we are confident that this initiative will appeal to all our guests, especially the millennials who prefer to access content on the move."

As many as 36 airlines offer this service on more than 800 planes now and many global studies show that three-fourths of passengers prefer to watch on their personal devices and not on the fixed screens, Belson Coutinho, vice president for marketing, e-commerce & innovations at the airline, said.

Jet operates to 67 destinations using a fleet of 117 aircraft, comprising Boeing 777-300 ERs, Airbus A330-200/300s, Boeing 737s and ATR 72-500/600s.
