Jharkhand government today asked the Agriculture Science Centre (ASC) and the Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) to speed up work in the sector.

Chairing a meeting of ASC, Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma said despite having 24 ASCs in the state there was a gap between goals and accomplishments, an official release said here.

Asking the ASCs to make village-wise profile of agriculture land, she also directed to make a road map in the sector and embark upon a special campaign for execution of works.

She directed to prepare Kishan Card on the pattern of Soil Health Card.

She asked to add two youth from every village as 'Krishi Mitra' by June 10 with the assistance of ATMA and impart training by June 15 so that farmers could enhance their agriculture production.

Direction has also been issued to set up 20 to 25 Beez Gram (seed stores), including in at least five pulse producing areas, in every district, the release said.

Asking every ASC to map barren land along with preparing profiles of farmers so that it could be made fertile, the chief secretary asked to encourage those farmers who had got training in Agro-business.

She asked the ASCs to ensure how much productive land was there in their area and how much land could be turned into double-cropping.

Directions were also issued for a survey to know what impact agriculture fairs had on farmers and how many farmers were connected.
