JK govt constitutes SLSC for upkeep of parks, garden in twin capitals

The Jammu and Kashmir government today approved the constitution of a state-level steering committee (SLSC) for the improvement and up-gradation of parks and gardens in the twin capital cities of Jammu and Srinagar.

The committee, to be headed by the chief secretary, would comprise of administrative secretaries of finance, planning, development and monitoring and housing and urban development department as its members, an official spokesperson said.

He said while administrative secretary floriculture, parks and gardens department would be the member secretary of the committee.

The mandate of the Committee would be to review and monitor the progress for development and up-gradation of parks and gardens in Jammu and Srinagar cities and suggest mechanism for flow of funds to fill gaps in providing of infrastructure.
 

Meanwhile, he said the government has also constituted divisional-level committees for preparing standard operating procedure (SOPs) for mapping of parks and gardens in both the cities.

The divisional-level committees have been entrusted with the task of working out modalities for the maintenance of gardens and parks in Jammu and Srinagar cities, he said.
