At least seven junior engineers here today staged a sit-in protest at the office of chief engineer of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited for enforcement of covenants of bilateral agreement signed between the state government and the federation of junior engineers for enhancement of their pay scales.
District President of the federation of junior engineers Satyaveer Singh said that two years ago an agreement was finalised between the state government and the federation to enhance the basic pay scale of the junior engineers from Rs 4,200 to 4,800.
The protesters demanded that the agreement be enforced immediately.

Singh further said that from October 2 onwards, the engineers will go on a 100-hour hunger strike at district headquarters to press for their demands.
In case the demands are not fulfilled, federation will be constrained to resort to 'Jail Bharo Abhiyan', he said.
A total of 200 junior engineers from Ghaziabad, Hapur, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, and Baghpat will participate in the movement.
