Jammu and Kashmir government has appointed Justice (retired) M L Koul as the head of the judicial commission to probe into the Shopian firing incident of September 7 that left four persons, including a Pakistani militant, dead.
"Justice M L Koul has been appointed as the head of the one-man commission to probe the Shopian firing incident," state Law Minister Mir Saifullah informed the Legislative Assembly today.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday announced a judicial inquiry by a retired high court judge into the firing incident at Shopian on September 7 that left four persons, including a Pakistani militant, dead.
