Karnataka government today said that it has asked the Internal Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs to probe the foreign funding and expenditure of NGOs, which have been indulging in "fraudulent" financial dealings in the state.
Home Minister K J George told the assembly that most of the funding of NGOs has been monitored by the Centre.
"These self-styled social activists receive huge amounts of foreign funds and rake up issues against developmental projects meanwhile transferring the fund in their foreign accounts" Congress' Ramesh Kumar alleged raising the issue.
Flaying the green activists for raising an uproar in Kodagu district, former Speaker and BJP member K G Bopaiah said they were a stumbling block in the way of development armed with foreign funds.
