The GSIDC today issued a show-cause notice to BJP functionary Vasudev Parab from whose industrial premises a huge catch of ketamine was recently seized by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), an official said.

Parab is BJP's general secretary for North Goa district.

"The Goa State Industrial Development Corporation (GSIDC) had allocated the shed inside Pissurlem Industrial Estate to Parab to start a steel manufacturing unit, but as per the media reports ketamine was found inside it," managing director of the corporation Narayan Gad told PTI.

The show-cause notice has been issued to Parab seeking his reply within 15 days over why the shed allocated to him should not be taken back by the corporation.

The notice has also questioned Parab's act of sub-letting the shed to another person, which is not permissible as per the agreement signed by him with the corporation, Gad said.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has unearthed an international racket of manufacturing ketamine with the seizure of a huge amount of the banned party drug from Goa, Maharashtra and Gujarat.

The DRI has apprehended 10 people, including three foreign nationals - two British and one Vietnamese- in this connection.

Ketamine is an anaesthetic agent that it often misused as a recreational party drug. Classified as a psychotropic substance under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, it is used to induce loss of consciousness.

It is used by some people to have a 'hallucinogenic high' in place of other narcotics, hence the state police has been keeping a strict watch on its sale in the coastal belt.
