Kolkata Police initiate search for missing woman

Kolkata Police has initiated a search for a young woman, who has been allegedly missing from her paying guest accommodation in the city since December 10.

The 19-year-old woman, a resident of Ghatshila in Jharkhand, had come to the city to pursue studies and was staying in Kalighat area, a senior police officer said today.

The search was initiated after the woman's family lodged a complaint with the Kalighat Police Station.

"The mobile phone tower location of the woman showed her last location at Esplanade. After that, the phone was switched off," the officer said.

Family members of the woman have alleged that she had been receiving "threat calls" from unknown persons, he said.
