Kotha Majeru village in the grip of a viral fever epidemic

Kotha Majeru village in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh is in the grip of a viral fever epidemic as well as other related infections, a senior health official said here today.
District Medical and Health Officer R Nagamalleswari said that more than 150 villagers including children have been admitted to various hospitals in the district.
Speaking to PTI, the official said that water contamination might be the cause of the epidemic.

"Today, we have set up a medical camp in the village to monitor the situation," she said.
Meanwhile, A private hospital from Vijayawada has sent its team of doctors to conduct a medical camp in the village today.
Deputy Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly who is also the local MLA, Mandali Budha Prasad, rushed to the village and instructed officials to take measures to tackle the situation.
