RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, who was today sentenced to five years rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 25 lakh by a special CBI court, would appeal in the Jharkhand High Court on October 17.
"We will appeal against the verdict on October 17," Yadav's counsel Chitaranjan Prasad Sinha told reporters here.
"We appealed for lesser sentence on the ground that Laluji had done good work when he was the railway minister," he said.
The counsel said that the RJD president told the court why he had approached Supreme Court and high court and pleaded innocence.
