Leopard attacks villager

A leopard today attacked a man in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district and hid in his house, creating panic among villagers.

A leopard walked into the house of the victim Bhagat Singh at Sinlagi village early today and attacked him.

As the man cried for help, villagers gathered at his place prompting the big cat to hide itself somewhere inside Singh's home, Forest Range Officer Kamal Lal Bharti said.

Singh has been brought to the district hospital for treatment.

A forest department team has been rushed to the village located in Karnaprayag area to trap and cage the feline which is still inside Singh's home, he said.
 

The presence of a leopard in one of the homes of the village has created panic among residents, he said.

Forest guards have surrounded the house and put up a cage outside it.

Efforts are still on to sedate and trap the leopard, he said.
