Leopard shot dead after it killed two men

A leopard, which had killed two persons and was on the prowl for the last 20 days, was shot dead by a patrolling team near Sushilnagar in Sandur taluk of the district.

The 15-year-old leopard was spotted near a live bait on Friday afternoon but it managed to escape, a forest official said.

The wait for the team, after taking proper position, yielded the desired result later when the team shot at it, Deputy Conservator of Forest T Ranawat said.

The leopard had killed two persons in Sushilnagar in a span of a fortnight.

As the news of the death of the wild cat spread, people of Sushilnagar and surrounding villages, who were panic-stricken and spending sleepless nights, heaved a sigh of relief.
