A life convict, who was on the run for over six years, was arrested by the Uttarakhand Special Task Force from Uttar Pradesh, police said here today.
Aftab Alam alias Bhoora was arrested from Bisrakh area in Gautam Buddh Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh by an Uttarakhand STF team led by inspector Santosh Kumar yesterday, they said.
Alam had assumed a fake identity and worked as a lab assistant in a medicine factory there to evade arrest.

Alam, who was serving life term after being convicted by the Uttarakhand High Court in a murder case in 2004, had escaped from custody in May 2007.
He had jumped off a running train while being escorted back after a hearing from Haldwani under the pretext of going to the toilet and had been on the run since, police sources said.
