Tamil Nadu government today ordered closure of all liquor outlets and bars tomorrow in the state in view of the funeral of former President A P J Abdul Kalam, as a 'mark of respect' to the departed soul.
The government has accepted a proposal made in this regard by the Commissioner of Prohibition and Excise, a Home Department government order here said.
The government hereby directs that all the shops of (state-run) TASMAC (Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation) and the bars attached thereto functioning throughout the state be closed on July 30, the order said.
The last rites are scheduled in Rameswaram tomorrow.
