The organisation of gazetted officers in Maharashtra is taking measures for sprucing up the image of their members in the wake of arrest of some under corruption charges.

The Federation of Gazetted Officers has resolved to inspire its office-bearers, who are officers from various departments, to evolve a better work-culture in their respective offices so that their image in public gets enhanced.

"We are aware of the fact that there are corrupt officials but only to the extent of 5 per cent. Another 15 per cent are on the border between corruption and honesty and the remaining majority of 80 per cent officials are indeed honest. But, our image as government officials has been maligned by these meagre 5 per cent officials. We have no hesitation in accepting that our public image is not good, if not poor," said Federation's General Secretary Sameer Bhatkar.

He said reports of ACB raids, unearthing of disproportionate assets from some officials have resulted in deterioration of the gazetted officers' image in public.
