West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today inaugurated 19th Jatra Utsav (Folk theatre festival) here in North 24 Parganas district today.
Banerjee announced that 'jatra' artistes would be brought under mediclaim facilities by the state government which would also set up a data bank on 'jatra'.
The government also decided to increase the annual remuneration of poor 'jatra' artistes from Rs 8000 to Rs 9000, she said.
