West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today stressed on promoting tourism in the Hills and expressed her dissatisfaction over the delay in the completion of different projects in the Darjeeling Hills by the tourism department.

The projects were also not being properly monitored which is leading to the delay, she said during an administrative review meeting here.

"The projects are getting delayed for no reasons,"she said and questioned whether those agencies responsible for the projects were not working.

She directed the state tourism secretary, Atri Bhattacharyya, who is also the home secretary to employ one nodal officer for monitoring the projects.

Banerjee stressed on home stays while highlighting the prospect of tourism in the Darjeeling Hills.

"We have to give importance to business and tourism. More importance should be given to home stays and the problem of accomodation in the Hills would be solved," she said.

The increase in the number of homestays would solve the unemployment problem in the area.
