Man accused of killing wife tried to commit suicide in lock-up

A man accused of murdering his wife attempted suicide inside the police lock-up on Sunday night, Thane police said.
Rajendra Krishna Patil (43) tried to kill himself by hitting his head with a wall tile at around 8:30pm in the lock-up of Hill Line police station in Ulhasnagar township in the district, an official said.
"He is accused of killing his wife Vaishali (32) on July 19 with a sickle. He locked the house with his two-month old daughter inside and fled. He was arrested later," the official said.
A case has been registered against him under section 309 (attempt to suicide), said police spokesperson Sukhada Narkar.
