A man was today arrested for allegedly murdering his father over an extramarital affair, police said.
Ankit Singhal was arrested for allegedly murdering his father Ashok Singhal after a case was registered on the complaint of the deceased's relatives, police said.
Ashok (46), a physician was found dead at his residence in Shastri Nagar of Nauchandi locality on May 20 with injury marks, seemingly from a heavy weapon, on the head.
During interrogation, the accused confessed of committing the crime after he initially misled the police. A baseball bat and blood-stained clothes were also recovered from him, police added.
The accused said that he was unhappy with his father's relationship to Kiran, a resident of Bijnor, who accompanied his father when he went to supply medicines to different places.
The father and son had regular scuffle over this issue when one day, the accused got drunk and killed his father with the baseball bat, police said, adding that he has been booked under relevant sections of the IPC.
