Man arrested for rape, murder

A man was arrested today for allegedly raping and murdering a 32-year-old Dalit woman near Rambas village in Narnaul area here.

The victim, who was a widow, was raped by Satbir Thakur (36) in the forest area near the village on Friday night, police said.

Thakur, in an effort to avoid a legal action against him, murdered the woman, they said, adding that he, however, was spotted by the villagers.

Thakur was produced before a local court, which sent him to a one day police remand.

The medical examination confirmed sexual assault and a case under relevant sections of IPC and SC/ST Act was registered against the accused, police said.
