Man axes wife to death, commits suicide

A 30-year-old man here allegedly axed his wife to death and later committed suicide by hanging himself.

According to police, Virender, who lived in Katri village of Ghatampur area, used to quarrel with his wife Pushpa frequently over financial issues.

Last evening too, they had a spat after which he axed her in a fit of rage.

Later, Virender hanged himself at his house, they said.

The couple also had two children, 2-year-old Sachin and 5-year-old Shivani.

On hearing the children's cries, the neighbours told Virender's brother of the incident, who then informed the police.
