A 25-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance after an altercation with his wife in Ghookna colony here, police said today.
The man, identified as Vedpal, yesterday consumed poisonous substance after which he was rushed to a private hospital for treatment where he died during treatment, Superintendent of Police (City) Ajay Pal Sharma said.
According to Vedpal's family, he was married six months ago and the couple used to have heated arguments often, he said.
Police took the body in its custody and sent it for postmortem, Sharma said.
An FIR has been registered and an investigation is underway, the SP said.
In a separate incident, a youth was found lying unconscious at Ram Lila Maidan Ghanta Ghar here last evening, the SP said.
He was admitted to district hospital for treatment where he died after some time, he said.
His identity could not be established, the SP said, adding the body has been sent for postmortem.
