Man gets four years' RI for abetting couple's suicide

The sessions court today sentenced a 32 years old man from the predominantly tribal Jawhar tehsil in the district to four years' rigorous imprisonment on the charge of abetment of suicide.

Thane additional sessions judge S G Girdhari also imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 on the accused Bhaskar Davlu Gavit, resident of Kharicha Pada, after finding him guilty under section 306 and 506 of IPC.

Public prosecutor Prakash Pujari said that Gavit and the victim Kisan Risha Olamba (32) were friends and worked as labourers at Rabale in Navi Mumbai.

Gavit had an illicit relationship with Mangal (30), Olamba's wife.
 

On Feburary 11, 2014, Kisan's mother found him and Mangal dead in their room in the house.
