Man gets three years' RI for offering bribe to collector

The special court for corruption cases here today sentenced Shyam Sunder Sharma, a former chief municipal officer, to three years' rigorous imprisonment for offering a bribe to the district collector.
The judge Gita Solanki also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on Sharma who would have to undergo three years' additional imprisonment if he failed to pay it, said the additional public prosecutor R K Dube.
According to the prosecution, Sharma, last March, gave the then collector Chhavi Bhradwaj Rs 50,000 wedged inside a file. The collector then filed a case of bribery against him.
