Man held for stalking teenage girl

A 39-year-old man was on Saturday arrested from Merces village near here for allegedly stalking a 14-year-old girl when she had gone to a shop, police said.

According to police, the accused Dinesh Naik had allegedly tried to follow the girl in the past as well.

A police officer said when the girl was returning home the accused asked her to accompany him, but she refused.

On the complaint lodged by her mother, police registered a case under section 354D (stalking) and section 8 of Goa Children's Act, said Old Goa police station inspector Jivba Dalvi.
